Councillor David Barton has welcomed the installation of a new ‘Welcome to Lord Street Gardens’ black and gold sign in the town centre.
The sign, which also features a glass fronted notice-board was erected after Councillor Barton made the request to council officers.
He had been approached by several local residents including his fellow volunteers from the Lord Street in Bloom gardening group.
Councillor Barton said: “I would like to extend my thanks to the Sefton Parks and Greenspaces team once again.
“Equally thanks must go to Mrs Pauline Morris and our group of Lord Street in Bloom volunteers who work tirelessly to maintain our town’s gardens.
“As someone who has joined them as a volunteer I know how kind and welcoming they all are to new volunteers.
“They have been essential to the town’s success in attaining gold status for the ‘Best Coastal Town’ award at last year’s North West in Bloom Volunteer Awards.
“I’m delighted at the arrival of this sign which enhances the area and helps us on track to restoring Lord Street to its former glory.
“Again I’d like to place on record my thanks to the relevant council officers for their support and recognition of the hard work of the volunteers.”
