Shoppers dice with death after verandah canopy is destroyed

Priceless verandahs have been destroyed by carless lorry drivers.

The verandah on Eastbank Street has been destroyed for a second time after a careless van driver reversed into the post near to Subway this afternoon.

Glass has smashed over the pavement and the wrought iron posts have been severely damaged in the collision.

Last year the opposite end of the verandah outside June’s Florist was knocked down and is still awaiting repairs.

Thankfully nobody is thought to have been injured in the collision and the drivers details have been taken down by polices.
