Shoppers blow a fuse over M&S closure

A power cut forced staff to close the Chapel Street store but despite repeatedly apologising to customers, some have been left annoyed that their supermarket sweep was interrupted.

One customer, Rita Haysham, who shops in the store every Wednesday was furious.

She said “everybody knows the best day to get anything in Marks’ is a Wednesday because that’s when they have the deliveries.

Everything is fresh and tastes a lot better. I’ll have to go on Friday now and all the good stuff will be gone.
