Shoplifter arrested after fight in Sainsbury’s Southport 

Merseyside police were called to Sainsbury’s on Lord Street this evening after security staff intercepted an attempted theft of a bottle of gin, Monday 18 April 2016.

A witness said: “Security tackled the man at the door, the bottle was smashed in the process”

Police turned up within minutes of staff raising the alarm. Officers questioned the man on the premises then took him in handcuffs(below) to Southport’s nearest custody suite in Bootle.
