Ainsdale Beach car park has been temporarily closed today due to the need for essential sewerage works to take place at a nearby leisure site.
United Utilities are currently working to replace equipment on Shore Road, Ainsdale, which requires the use of a number of specialist vehicles to complete.
Owing to the large number of vehicles and machinery on site, Green Sefton have taken the decision to temporarily close Ainsdale Beach car park to ensure public safety.
A spokesperson for Sefton Council said: “Due to the scale of the works undertaken by United Utilities we have made the decision to temporarily close access to Ainsdale beach car park.
“We are hopeful following conversations with United Utilities that these essential works will be completed within 48 hours and we endeavour to once again provide access to the beach car park as soon as it is safe to do so.
“We will update our residents and visitors in due course as to when the car park is reopen via our usual channels.”
