A water company has been accused of dumping waste sewage on Southport beach this weekend.
Campaigners tracking real time data across the UK say that a sewage discharge into the waters around Southport beach was recorded yesterday morning.
Surfers Against Sewage say United Utilities are responsible for pumping the waste onto the beach.
The group say they are “the voice of the ocean” and are a charity campaigning for safe and clean oceans and rivers.
They are encouraging people to lobby their MP, Damien Moore, to reverse his governments decision to allow this practice to continue.
Mr Moore was one of the MPs in Parliament who voted against an amendment to the Environment Bill, which sought to place a legal duty on water companies not to pump sewage into rivers.
The amendment lost.
