Sefton Council is reminding people that drive-through mobile test units will be at locations across the Borough throughout September.
Mobile test units are for people who are showing coronavirus symptoms of a high temperature, a new persistent cough or a loss of taste or smell.
People who develop these symptoms, even if they are only mild, need to book a PCR test straight away by making an appointment at www.nhs.uk/coronavirus or by calling 119.
Government advice is that people should also get a PCR test if they have done a rapid lateral flow test and had a positive result. They can also book a PCR test if they have been in close contact with someone who’s tested positive, whether they have symptoms or not.
A link to the list of September drive-through Mobile Test Unit locations in Sefton, plus more advice about testing can be found at www.sefton.gov.uk/COVID-testing. The September venues will be Litherland Sports Park, Maghull Town Hall and Southport Eco Centre.
Because around one in three people with COVID-19 do not have symptoms but can still infect others, people should still be taking regular rapid lateral flow test twice a week to check if they have the virus. People who have had both vaccination shots can still carry and pass on the virus so they should also keep testing themselves regularly.
For those who don’t have symptoms, free test kits are available at a range of locations across Sefton, including from all pharmacies, and people can get assisted rapid flow tests at the SMART test sites, at Splash World and Bootle Strand.
