Events are taking place across Sefton to help young people in the borough find new jobs as part of National Apprenticeship Week.
Apprenticeships Get in. Go Far is being organised by Sefton@Work and aims to give 16-24 year-old unemployed Sefton residents the opportunity to find out first hand from local employers about jobs they can apply for and what skills are needed.
Sefton@Work is part of Sefton Council’s economic development team and helps local workless residents get into employment and training.
Working in partnership with Wayfarers Arcade, Southport and Bootle Strand, Sefton@Work are holding the events as part of National Apprenticeship Week which runs from March 9-13.
On Wednesday, March 11 from 10am-5pm they will be at unit 37 at Wayfarers Arcade, Lord St, Southport and on Thursday and Friday March 12/13 in Bootle Strand Shopping Centre (opposite New Look) from 10am-5pm.
Major local employers including Merseytravel, Marks and Spencer, Barclays, the Ramada Group, Santander, the Army, Cargills, the NHS and many more will be at the events.
Different sessions will be held throughout the day with specific time slots allocated to unemployed young people aged between 16-24.
If anyone is interested in attending, they need to speak to their Work Coach at Jobcentre Plus who will be able to give more information and arrange an appointment.
During the session young people will have the opportunity to hear from an employer about how they can apply for jobs and apprenticeships in their sector, ask any questions as well as access to training and other employment opportunities.
