A VOLUNTEER group which raises awareness about the importance of responsible dog ownership has been given a £1,000 cash boost.
Sefton Dogs won the money through a public vote run by the Aviva Community Fund, and they have used the cash to splash out on a new website to help spread their message. Lyn Hilton, one of the founding members of Sefton Dogs said:
“We are so grateful to everyone who voted for Sefton Dogs. The grant will help us to continue raising awareness of the importance of responsible dog ownership to help protect our beautiful countryside and coast.”
Sefton Dogs was founded in early 2017 in response to the proposed changes to the Dog Laws within Sefton under the council’s Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO).
Restrictions were proposed which would have resulted in limited opportunities for off lead walking in the local area, including in popular dog walking spots like the beach.
The work of the group resulted in Sefton Council changing some of the PSPO stipulations before it then came into force in July last year.
