19th March 2025

On Social Work Day, Sefton Council is proud to celebrate its social workers across Children’s and Adults Services who make a difference to the lives of individuals and families across the borough.

Social work in Sefton involves supporting children, young people, adults and families who are facing challenges or need some support to move forward. It is about approaching a situation with compassion and understanding and building resilience of individuals and families while working together across police, education, health, voluntary and other sectors to ensure families and people in Sefton receive holistic support and support them to navigate change.

Cllr Ian Moncur, Cabinet Member for Adult Social Care, spoke of the importance of social workers in the adult services sector: “Our social workers in adult social care provide essential support to some of the most vulnerable adults in our community. Whether it’s helping older residents, people with disabilities, or those facing complex challenges, social workers are there, offering care, guidance and the tools to live independent, fulfilling lives.

“On World Social Work Day, we recognise and thank them for their invaluable work in promoting dignity, choice, and respect for all individuals in Sefton.”

Cllr Diane Roscoe, Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families in Sefton expressed her appreciation for the dedication and commitment of social workers in Sefton: “Social workers are at the heart of supporting our children and families and their compassion and expertise makes a big impact on families in Sefton; keeping them safe and supporting them to achieve their full potential.

“We are always striving to give children, young people and families the support they deserve and I have seen that passion and drive to succeed for our young people on show today from our professionals. I want to recognise the amazing work professionals deliver in the social work sector and thank them for the work they do.”
