We’ve launched the EyeCan Awards – a first for Lancashire and Sefton – celebrating the achievements and inspiration of visually impaired people.
There are an estimated 46,000 people living with sight loss in Lancashire and Sefton alone. The EyeCan Awards celebrate what visually impaired people living locally can achieve with the right encouragement, opportunities and support.
Local sight loss charities, like Galloway’s, regularly see examples of courage and perseverance from amazing people of all ages to overcome the devastation that sight loss can bring.
Thanks to our main sponsor, Eric Wright Group, we’ve been able to create these fantastic new awards, which aim to recognise those who go the extra mile to support local visually impaired people and to celebrate those living with sight loss who inspire others around them and don’t view their sight as a barrier.
We need you to help recognize these amazing people and we’d like to encourage you to nominate individuals in one or more of the 10 categories below;
Young Person Award | Volunteer Award | Sports Person Award (team or individual) | Artistic Talent | Charity Champion | Business Award | Education Award | Community Award | Carer Award | Inspirational Person Award
The awards are open to people from any background and a link with Galloway’s is absolutely not necessary.
The ceremony will take place on Friday 13 November at the Invincibles Lounge at Preston North End. The guest speaker for the evening is Preston’s own Steve Daley, 18-year captain of the England Futsal Team.
If you know somebody living with sight loss that inspires you or somebody that goes the extra mile to support visually impaired people, please take the time to nominate them and let them know how amazing they really are.
Nominations can be made online at www.galloways.org.uk/eyecan-awards-2015 or by emailing eyecan@galloways.org.uk.
All nominations must be received by 5pm Monday 8 October and all nominations will be acknowledged.
