Police are appealing for information after a Tesco in Southport was broken into in the early hours of today (Monday 31 July).
Police were called just after 6am today to a report Tesco, on Albert Road, Southport had been broken into between midnight and 0.10am.
It was reported two males, wearing dark clothing and with hoods up, had forced entry to the shop after it has closed for the day and while there were no staff present. It is believed cash was taken during the burglary.
Policeare in the early stages of an investigation and forensic enquiries are ongoing.
Detective Inspector Samantha Davies said: “The burglary of businesses in our communities is by no means a victimless crime.
“These burglars have caused significant damage to the building, have caused serious upset and inconvenience to staff who work at the store, and customers living locally who rely on the shop for essentials.
“We are appealing for anyone with information to come forward. In particular, anyone who saw two males acting suspiciously outside the Tesco from 11.30pm last night (Sunday 30 July), before the burglary just after midnight.
“If you passed the store on Albert Road at this time in your vehicle and could have captured dashcam, please contact police.”
