Sean Towndrow Secures Golf Pro Maiden Victory
Sean Towndrow (Golfin4Life) held off the opposition with a patient and mature performance while most of the field found the going heavy at Mill Ride.
Towndrow who plays out of Southport & Ainsdale GC proved to be the stayer and at close of play on the first day he had a 5 under par 67 under his belt to lead by three.
Dan Garner (Romford Golf Club) was his nearest challenger on 2 under the card, and a length back on one under par sat the amateur Jack Floydd (Haywards Heath GC) and Jamie Moul (Stoke by Nayland).
It promised to be a very interesting second day for Towndrow, in the way of him keeping the chasing pack at bay and holding his nerve.
The second day was a little lack lustre in terms of an exciting finish, with only four players finishing level par or better.
One of those was overnight leader Sean Towndrow, who with 3 birdies, 3 bogeys and 12 pars did more than enough to secure his first professional win by 4 shots from Freddie Price.
A solid performance from the “Single Figure Golfer” entry, amateur Jack Floydd who finished level par for the tournament tied with Ben Follett-Smith in third place.
Congratulations to Will Brown who has just pipped David Dixon to top the second Order of Merit to secure him a free season on the2018/2019 Portugal Pro Golf Tour worth in excess of £4,500.
