Scooter gangs fear as pensioner targeted in town centre

An elderly woman says she was left terrified after a scooter rider swerved off road and made a failed grab for her purse this evening.

The 80 year old woman’s son has messaged OTS to say his elderly mum was walking down Gordon Street this evening to go home when a scooter rider approaching from the opposite direction swerved onto the pavement and appeared to make a grab for her handbag.

Luckily she pulled away in time and the biker sped off towards Lord Street.

Her son said “she called me in floods of tears when she returned home and she was terrified. We couldnt call the police because she didn’t get a good look at the person and she was so shaken she can’t identify the bike.

I just want to warn others so this doesn’t happen to others like her.”
