School pupil struck by car outside Carr Lane playing fields

Emergency services have closed off Carr Lane after a high school student was struck by a car this afternoon.

Paramedics and police have rushed to the scene of the incident on Carr Lane in Birkdale, after reports that a child from a nearby high school was struck and injured.

An air ambulance has landed at the scene and is supporting paramedics.

Eyewitnesses at the scene reported to OTS News that the pupil is conscious and responding to medics.

Motorists have been advised to avoid the area. The road has been temporarily closed and police are diverting traffic via Liverpool Road.
