Icy conditions on the weather exposed Southport pier have led to the 2022 Queenscourt Santa Sprint being postponed.
Organisers of the annual charity dash, which sees hundreds of runners jog around the Marine Lake in Santa suits, say the weather forecast poses too much of a health risk.
The exposed Southport Pier is already covered in ice which hasn’t thawed in time, leaving organisers with little choice but to postpone the event.
A Queenscourt spokesperson said “Please note that this year’s Santa Sprint has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
“As always, our main priority is to ensure the safety of all those taking part and organising the event.
“We hope to arrange an alternative date as soon as possible, and will be in touch with all of you who are registered to take part. N.B. All paid entry tickets will be valid for this new date.
“Please accept our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience caused,”
