The Ministry of Defence has told OTS News that rumours RAF Woodvale will be sold are untrue.
Several reports posted by members of the public on social media app NextDoor this week said that the airfield, which has been open since 1941, would be sold.
But the MOD has confirmed it has no plans to sell RAF Woodvale.
The speculation possibly comes from confusion with ongoing proposals to build 286 homes next to RAF Woodvale.
Planning permission for the build, across 36 acres of green space, was granted in January 2022.
Opening in 1941, the airfield played a vital role in the aerial defence of Merseyside in the Second World War.
In 1971 the base was converted to a training certain and today plays host to a number of cadet and reserve squadrons.
