Rubbish Friends get Brownie points!

1st July 2019

Southport’s celebrated Rubbish Friends team had a big surprise when they turned out for their latest cleaning mission… a helping hand from a pack of Brownies and Rainbows.

The volunteer group turned up at Kew Woods to find that the Brownies and their leader were there to add reinforcements to the big clean up.

“ it was wonderful to have these youngsters to help us and it was also notable just how enthusiastic they were to clear the litter, “ said Rubbish Friendsorganiser Councillor Pat Keith who added :

“We greatly appreciated Danielle Millar, leader of the Salvation Army Rainbow and Brownie group for getting the children involved.  It was a highly successful operation because we filled 26 large bags of rubbish and refuse from the site.”

Danielle said: “ The children are always very keen to help community causes and this was a great example of what they like to do. As well as clearing rubbish the children also placed bird feeding boxes in the tree and caught a glimpse of a fox with its cub.”
