RTC causes chaos at busy town centre junction

A two car smash at the junction of Manchester Road and Hartwood Road a few minutes ago is causing significant delays and traffic issues.

The cars collided with each other near to the Spar Petrol station leaving one of the vehicles completely disabled and stuck in the middle of the junction.

Both drivers stopped at the scene and have exchanged details. Police have been notified of the accident and are understood to be attending to help manage traffic.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area over the next hour while the accident is cleared.
