Bird lovers are urging Merseyside Police and the RSPCA to investigate after a pigeon was allegedly shot dead in Southport town centre.
The pigeon was found dead with a small circular wound on Tulketh Street this morning by a hairdresser on the way to work.
The picture was posted to Facebook and a flood of comments have now called on Merseyside Police and the RSPCA to begin an investigation into the incident.
One comment said the wound was consistence with an air rifle wound and that this has happened on more than one occasion recently. Anyone with information should call 101.
