Rosebank Care Home wasn’t going to allow 70 years since VE Day to pass without a fabulous party. For some of the residents this was a very special day as some were only 11 years old at the time of that great day. The wet weather wasn’t going to dampen their spirts as they decided to hold their street party indoors. The bunting, cakes, flags and banners where there to be seen. Songs were sung and war time games played. Gillian Young the Care Manager said ‘we have been planning this event for some weeks, everyone has been so excited. The Dutch Bakery in Birkdale produced a fabulous VE cake for us. However, we were determined mark the event with something different so we produced a huge ‘VE’ visible from 250 ft in the garden. ‘ Young Kitty Cunningham forms the middle’ section of the ‘E’ if you can see her!
