Rockin’ for the homeless event at Birkers raised £1367.33

A fantastic charity event took place Sunday 8th May at Birkers Bar & Grill in aid of ‘Supporting Homeless Everywhere’, a local charity formed last year by Mighty Radio presenter, Fiona Aldred.

Mighty Breakfast show host, Andrew Hegarty, hosted the event from 1pm which kicks off with Sean Connolly’s superb Elvis Presley tribute.

Canadian rock band, ‘April Moon’ took to the stage at around 2.30pm and the Liverpool v Watford match was screened from 4pm with a charity head shave taking place at half-time.

At 6pm, the raffle took place with some fantastic prizes to give away, kindly donated by local businesses such as MD Travel and ‘Naughty but Nice’ sandwich bar, to name just two!

TV producer and director, David Lewis Richardson, (Shameless, Hollyoaks, Eastenders) took to the stage to talk about his career behind the camera, followed by excellent local band, ‘Fag Ash Lil’.

Former Everton player, Ian Snodin, hosted an auction of Toffees’ memorabilia at around 8pm with the North West’s finest Led Zeppelin tribute band, ‘Led Zed’ wowing the crowds to finish the night in fine style.

Guests enjoyed a BBQ throughout the day and a ‘Mr Whippy’ ice cream van will be on-hand to help keep everyone cool in the warm weather – kids are welcome during the afternoon.

Fiona said: “Thank you to every one who came to the rocking for the homeless night at Birkers! It was fantastic! I have counted up all the money and we have raised (drum roll please)…”
