GP services in Southport are among the ‘best performing in the country’ according to its latest assessment by health regulators.

However, overall the local CCG received a ‘requires improvement’ rating for the third year in a row.

Despite the rating, CCG chair, Dr Rob Caudwell, insisted it was ‘encouraging to see so many aspects of the service praised’ by the health watchdog.

NHS England’s annual Improvement and Assessment Framework measures all CCGs against 58 performance indicators in areas ranging from leadership and sustainability, to cancer and dementia.

NHS Southport and Formby CCG ranked top in the country for improving access to psycho- logical therapies, with 64% of patients who finished treatment moving on to recovery.
