Rememberance wreath laid by far-right group removed from Southport war memorial

18th November 2021

A wreath laid by far-right white-nationalist group Patriotic Alternative has been removed from the Southport war memorial.

The wreath was laid over the weekend while Southport commemorated those who gave their lives representing Britain in conflict.

It is not known who removed the wreath, which was littered with spelling and grammar errors.

The group, founded by Neo-Nazi Mark Collett believe that “Native British people are set to become a minority by 2066.” and has links to National Action, who were deemed a terrorist organisation by the UK Government in 2016.

Currently, Patriotic Alternative’s website hosts a bizarre review of recent movie blockbuster Eternals, bemoaning: “Every romantic pairing in this film is interracial which we are probably used to by now.” while grading the film on a “feminism” score and “anti-white” score.

Sefton Council said: “Southport’s war memorial is a public monument, which is dedicated to those brave men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice while combating oppressive regimes and views.

“People are able to lay wreaths at any time and we do not know at what point this particular wreath was laid but an inspection today [Nov 16], has shown it is no longer there.”
