Recycled husbands going coast to coast for Alzheimers UK

26th January 2017

Recycled Husbands Coast to Coast Alzheimers ride.

An ambulance technician and her husband from Southport are asking for the publics help in their huge challenge to raise funds for alzheimer’s uk.

Mandy Owen’s husband Lee will be cycling 158 miles from whitby to southport later this year to raise funds for the charity which helps people like Lee’s grandmother, who suffers from Alzheimer’s.

The group os ‘husbands’ who have nicknamed themselves the ‘Recycled Husbands’ are setting off from Whitby Whalebone arch at 6am on May 31 and hope to be at Marine Point, Southport before 9pm the same day!

But they need help.

Mandy says: “We still need a refreshment and relaxation spot at Southport, where the lads can put their feet up and get a drink and some food at the end of the ride.

“Our Just giving page can be found at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Recycled-Husbands-Cycling where we have raised £850 towards a £5000 target.
You can text donations directly by texting “RHCC66 £5” to 70070.

“My 13 year old son, Ryan, is joining the ride at the final leg to bring the boys home. This is something he wanted to get involved in, which we think is commendable for a lad his age.

“It is hoped that, after the event, we will be able to set up a micro charity where we can inject money back into the local community to directly help families living with Alzheimers.

“We still need R&R at Southport – perhaps a local hotel or bar could provide space and drinks? as well as first aid things such as tubigrips, ice packs, heat pads etc. Bottled water. Sponsor for fuel for the support vehicle.

“Please help! If you can call me on 07904 299311”
