A Southport resident is celebrating his 110th birthday today, cementing his position as the UK’s oldest living man.
John Tinniswood, who made national headlines in 2021 for saying the secret to a long life is a Chippy tea, has now surpassed his own national record.
He is the oldest man in the UK at 110.
He was born in Liverpool the year the Titanic sank, he’s survived two world wars and was already 50 when the Beatles had their first hit.
A lifelong Liverpool fan, John worked as an accountant until his retirement in 1972.
The Hollies Rest Home resident will be joined by his neighbours, friends and Hollies staff to celebrate the landmark birthday in style.
Lord-Lieutenant of Merseyside Mark Blundell visited Mr Tinniswood yesterday to pass on his congratulations.
John married his wife, Blodwen, in 1942, and welcomed their only child, Susan, in 1943, before spending 44 happy years together until Blodwen died in 1986.
