There are a great many generalisations and stereotypes associated with British people, and such assessments vary hugely depending on where the person lives in the world and their own personal experience.
However, one thing that can always be associated with the British, along with that ‘stiff upper lip’, is the reluctance to admit anything is wrong with their health and, moreover, a refusal to ‘bother’ the doctor.
So, if you are one of these people, continue reading to learn of four reasons why you should book an appointment with your GP – even if it doesn’t hurt!
1. Your Energy Is Lower Than Normal
Obviously, every single person in the world does, at one time or another, feel low and demotivated and generally lacks the necessary energy to go about their daily business, complete household chores and fulfil professional responsibilities.
There are several common environmental factors that may influence this, such as a heavy night drinking the day before or staying up through the night to complete an assignment. However, if you feel as if you are eating enough, getting enough sleep and not struggling with too many duties, there may be something else going on that you need to have checked out.
2. A Mole Has Grown in Size
Another potentially worrying situation, which some people simply ignore and hope it goes away (as it often does) and others overreact, is that of a mole that has darkened in colour or grown in size.
If you do find a mole or another bump or lump on your skin, and it seems as though it has changed recently, then you should make an appointment with your doctor or look at gp online booking services to have it checked out by a professional.
3. Your Gums Are Bleeding
A lot of people fail to grasp that if your gums or any other area of your mouth are bleeding, this is never a good sign, with the possible exception if you are currently experiencing problems with impacted wisdom teeth.
Usually, if your gums are bleeding, it is the first sign of gum disease and means you need to make an appointment with your dentist as soon as you can. Moreover, you should also take the time to brush your teeth far more thoroughly than you are doing and for longer, as well as floss twice a day.
4. You Have Lost Weight Quickly
Finally, the fourth cause for possible concern on this list, and something that you may want to apply to your own experience in recent months and weeks, is if you have lost weight relatively quickly without consciously trying.
There are numerous reasons why you may have lost weight quickly, with the vast majority of them not being a serious cause for concern, but it is still best to speak to your doctor if this sounds like you. Conversely, if you seem to have gained weight quickly and cannot work out why, this may also mean you should make an appointment with your doctor.
