Heavy rain isn’t causing any concern for bosses she’d of the start of the British Musical Fireworks tonight.

Poor weather conditions could hamper how many people turn up to the show but OTS understands bosses won’t call it off after weather checks.

The firework extravaganza is held across three nights, from this Friday (Septembr 27) to Sunday (September 29), when com- petitors battle it out at Victoria Park to be crowned the ultimate winner.

The British Musical Fireworks Champion- ship is termed a ‘pyromusical’ competition with the fireworks set to music and the entire show choreographed.

Over the three nights, there will be seven 15 minute displays. Starting on Friday, last year’s winners Illusion Fireworks Ltd will open the event at 8pm with an exhibition display, followed by six competitors over the weekend, starting with Phoenix Fire- works at 8.30pm the same night.

There will be three displays on Saturday: Magic & Miracle at 8pm; G2 Fireworks at 8.30pm and Distant Thunder at 9pm and two on Sunday: Pyro 2000 at 8pm and 1st Galaxy at 8.30pm.

During the competition, more than two tonnes of explosive material will be used with the total weight of fireworks used in excess of 10 tonnes!

Each show requires around 5 kilometres of wire to connect up the electrical circuits and around 15 technicians working for 12 hours to set up the display.
