West Lancashire and Southport Breathe Easy Group presented a cheque for £792 to Queenscourt Hospice towards the cost of provision of home oxygen for ‘At Home’ patients.
Queenscourt Hospice has ten beds for in-patients and helps many more patients whose wish it is to stay in their own homes.
Patricia Ireland from Southport Breathe Easy group said: “The Hospice also does wonder- ful work in providing facilities and care for Day patients.”
Meanwhile members of West Lancashire and Southport Breathe Easy group have star- ted singing before their
meetings – with the aim of helping to improve their lungs.
Patricia added: “The British Lung Foundation is strongly recommending that local groups like ours get involved with singing; quite apart from the social side – this is such an uplifting activity, which puts everyone on a high!
“There is also the very strong impetus to sing, because it stretches our lungs and helps to improve our lung capacity!
“Whatever limitations one has, after a half hour singing session, improvements can be clearly felt. We sing ballads and amusing songs, and the ses- sions are great.”
