Commuters journeying via Southport station this afternoon found themselves sharing a platform with a purr-fect fellow passenger.
Staff at the Chapel Street station were left grinning like a Cheshire Cat after welcoming a traveller and his four legged feline friend ahead of embarking on a journey on the network.
Passengers say they were delightfully caught by suprise when they found a cat being walked on a lead through the station.
The well behaved feline even stopped to let other passengers pet it, while amused staff were even offered an exclusive cuddle.
The unusual sight was warmly welcomed with one OTS reader commenting “I’d just got off a ghastly Northern rail journey and didn’t expect to see this.
“But it put a smile on my face. A cat being walked on a lead isn’t an every day sight to see.
“It took extra time to get through the ticket gate because everyone wanted to stop and pet it.
“I’ve seen less well behaved dogs.”
