Puppy is snatched away from mother in nighttime theft

Police are hunting three men who were caught in CCTV imagery last night stealing a young puppy from its nursing mother at a house near Southport.

Security footage shows three men breaking into a property on Pool Hey Lane just north of Southport late on Tuesday evening.

The theft, which is understood to be targeted, happened just before midnight as the trio swiped a newborn pup from its mother.

Police are now appealing for help in identifying any of the three men, who detectives want to question in relation to the theft.
