PREVIEW | Home Run
After a month away from home, Southport return to the Pure Stadium this weekend as they welcome Kidderminster Harriers.
The Port’s last home game was the 3-3 draw against Bradford (Park Avenue) on 1 February, which was followed by a point on the road at both Hereford and Brackley Town before defeat at Leamington in the last outing.
After last week’s game against King’s Lynn Town was postponed, Liam Watson’s side will be hoping to use a week off from match action to their advantage.
Meanwhile this weekend’s opponents, Kidderminster, have also found wins difficult to come by since the turn of the year, winning only two times in their last nine.
That run leaves Kiddy sat in 15th place in the Vanarama National League North.
After taking the top job last month, manager Russell Penn will be hoping to offer some stability heading into the backend of the year.
In order to do so, the Reds will need to improve on their 0-1 defeat to York City last time out.
A key player for the Harriers so far this season has been Ashley Chambers, who has scored 12 goals.
His last strike came in a 0-2 win against King’s Lynn, as he continues to build on the 13 goals he got last term.
Earlier on in the season, when the two sides met at Aggborough, it was the Port who came out on top.
Devarn Green’s second half strike was the difference as Watson’s side returned from Worcestershire with a 0-1 victory and all three points.
The Port will be hoping his side can replicate that performance and complete the double over Kidderminster to get the season back on track.
