Southport head into their final league game of the season hoping to complete a strong finish to the season and claim three more points.
Easter Monday’s 2-2 home draw against Kidderminster Harriers saw the Port extend their current unbeaten run to three games.
Now Liam Watson’s side head to Croft Park to face Blyth Spartans, who still have everything to play for in the last game of the season.
Spartans are in very much need of three points if they hope to secure a place in the play-offs and a crack at promotion to the National League.
Alun Armstrong’s side currently occupy sixth place with 66 points but still need a victory.
Wins for Bradford Park Avenue and Telford elsewhere could see both sides overtake the Green Army if they are unable to secure three points.
Spartans are currently on a nine-game unbeaten run, accumulating seven wins and two draws in that time, including a 1-0 victory last weekend to complete a league double over table toppers Stockport County.
Last time out a late goal from Adam Wrightson gave Armstrong’s side victory over relegation FC United of Manchester, keeping them in the driving seat in the play-off race.
A key man for Spartans this campaign has been front man Daniel Maguire, who has contributed 19 league goals this season, an improvement the 16 he got the year before.
Alongside the 13 goals Sean Reid has also delivered, the Green Army are the fourth highest scorers in the league.
Despite that Southport will get chances to score, as Spartans also hold the worst defensive record in the top seven and have conceded eight more goals than the Port.
When the pair met at the Merseyrail Community Stadium back in November, it was Blyth who came away victorious with a single Robert Dale goal being the difference.
While Liam Watson will be planning for Monday’s Lancashire FA Challenge Trophy against Colne as well as next season, Blyth will be hoping the current season isn’t quite over for them yet as they will be hoping to secure their play-off spot.
