Southport will look to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to Boston United with a Semi-Final against Rylands in the Liverpool CFA Senior Cup.
A late goal saw Liam Watson’s side slip to a 3-2 loss at the weekend, giving the side an incentive to get back to winning ways as well as reaching their second cup final of the season.
With a place in the Lancashire Challenge Trophy final already lined up at end of the campaign, the Port would love to add a second to the calendar.
This current cup run began back in January with a 2-0 over Marine, a victory which set up a quarter-final tie against Tranmere Rovers.
After a draw and a defeat against Rovers in the Emirates FA Cup earlier in the season, Southport overcame Micky Mellon’s side with a 1-0 win.
Meanwhile opponents Rylands overcame AFC Liverpool with 4-1 victory in the last round to set up this tie.
Rylands are currently enjoying an excellent season, sitting top of Hallmark Security League First Division South by seven points.
To establish that gap, Stuart Wellstead and David McNabb’s side went all of February unbeaten and will look to make the game as hard as possible for the Port with a place in the final at stake against either Prescot Cables or Widnes.
