POLICE WARNING | A Cold Caller visiting properties in Southport
The Police are aware of a male who is knocking on doors and trying the handles to see if the property has been left insecure. If the resident is at home he may ask if they have any jobs around the house or garden as he needs work. Another approach is that he is homeless and asks the occupiers if they could help by giving him some money.
The male is particularly targeting older residents and even offering to take them to the bank so they can pay him cash. In one incident a lady paid him money and he returned the following day and asked for more money. The Police are asking for all residents to be aware of the situation and to also inform neighbours, relatives and friends so they will know how to react.
