Police step up foot patrols after residents complain

25th January 2018

Local residents have asked police to patrol the passages that run between Larkfield Lane and Fylde Road in Southport.

A spokesperson said: “So here we were, at 4.00PM today (Wed 24th Jan).

“We’ll be back in the evenings too.”

Police deal with gangs of anti-social teenagers in Southport

Police in Southport continue to maintain a strong presence in Kings Gardens.

Tonight a gang of teenagers who regularly sit and smoke in one of the victorian shelters near to the playground were approached by officers from Merseyside Police, 29 March 2017.

It’s believed officers wanted to check up on the youths to make sure they were safe and staying within the confines of the law amid ongoing reports of anti social behaviour and gangs from Wigan, Liverpool and elsewhere in Sefton.

Although they were sent on their way by officers eager to stop large groups gathering, Promenade resident Nick Greene said: “Enough is enough with these louts getting together and intimidating us all. I can’t walk through the park without feeling a bit on edge.

“When is this security thing starting to sort these little buggers out?”

It was reported last week that Merseyside Police are eager to cut down on the number of gangs who enter the town via Merseyrail and ‘jump’ their fare by getting off at Birkdale.

They then gather in dark locations such as Kings Gardens and outside KFC where they are known to smoke marijuana and intimidate passers by.
