Police speed traps lies in wait for unaware drivers

Money hungry police speed trappers are waiting to catch tearaway drivers in the Moss Road area of Southport.

One jogger joked how Lancashire police were so eager to catch speedsters he was clocked by officers.

The safety speed checks are in force ahead of the rush hour Friday evening traffic with police hoping to catch drivers unaware on the rat run.

Two drivers have already been caught and issued with fines for exceeding the speed limit this morning and more will be caught this evening.

Unlike other speed traps where a second hidden police car is lying in wait, this camera van will track number plates and automatically issue speeding penalties through the post at a later date.

Drivers should take care when passing through the Moss Road area.
