Police Seek More Information On M58 Crash That Took Life Of Southport Woman

Police are appealing for more information on a crash that has killed a 14-year-old boy and a woman from Southport.

The incident happened at 9am, Tuesday 8 of January, involving a heavy goods vehicle, a minibus, and several other vehicles.

Traffic was diverted from the M58 to the M6, causing traffic delays, and mass confusion around the seriousness of the incident.

Anne Kerr, a teacher at an Ormskirk school, lost her life while she was a passenger on a minibus involved in the incident.

Anne’s family, from Southport, paid tribute to her in a statement that said, ‘Anne was much loved by all who knew her. She will be deeply missed by all her friends and family’

‘She was a daughter, wife, and mum to two lovely boys. She was a lovely personality to be around.’

‘Her death has left us all heartbroken.’

Sgt Steve Wignall said, ‘Our thoughts remain with the families of everyone affected by the tragic incidents yesterday. We have specially trained officers supporting them at this very sad and difficult time.

‘We need anyone who saw either of the collisions but hasn’t spoken to us already to come forward. You may have vital information to assist our investigation.’
