Police reveal why there was a large police presence at Birkdale train station today
Officers from the Southport Local Policing Team worked together with British Transport Police and Nothern Rail Revenue Protection Officers on an operation at Birkdale train station earlier today, Wednesday 20th June.
These operations are not solely about those who travel the railway network without paying. They also allow us to identify known offenders who use the Northern Line to commit crime.
Local residents and rail users should expect to see more operations like this at local stations across the area.
