Police have issued CCTV images of a man who could assist with enquiries following a reported assault in Southport last month.
Officers received a report that a 15-year-old boy had been punched outside Southport FC’s stadium, on Haig Avenue, on Saturday 1 April after a match against Gloucester City.
The victim sustained a broken nose and a head injury during the incident.
Extensive CCTV and witness enquiries have been conducted, and CCTV images have been issued of a man who police believe could assist in the investigation.
Police believe the suspect was an away supporter and travelled back to Gloucester after the match.
Detective Inspector James Halpin said: “This was a nasty assault on a teenage boy who sustained a serious facial injury.
“The incident took place when there would have been other fans present, who may have seen the assault take place.
“If you were in the vicinity at that time and witnessed the assault then please get in touch.
“I am also appealing to the man featured in the images, or anyone who recognises him, to come forward. We believe he could hold information that could be vital to our continuing enquiries.”
