Shocked and distraught village regulars were left aghast after a car ploughed through the front of a Birkdale wine shop.
The silver Peugeot 107 crashed through the glass panels of the front of Birkdale Wine Rack just after lunchtime today narrowing missing hitting customers and store workers.
Groups of concerned passers by rushed to the scene to help both staff and the driver following the incident.
A police spokesperson said: “We were called at 1.25pm today, Monday 2nd August, following reports a Peugeot 107 had been in collision with a shopfront in Weld Parade in Southport.
“There are no reports of anyone being seriously injured and the car is in the process of being recovered.
“Enquiries into the collision are ongoing.”
