Three police units, including an undercover patrol, are currently standing guard at the Scarisbrick Hotel in Southport following a serious incident.
Officers arrived on scene at the Lord Street based hotel just after 10am this morning. A squad car, police van and an unmarked unit from Merseyside Police all attended the scene.
The hotel remains closed to the public after shutting its doors at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic and has only been used as a temporary lodging for asylum seekers since.
Officers remain on scene and an update is expected from Merseyside Police shortly.
