Police detain woman after 999 call raised fears

Worried neighbours have said they were shocked to see a woman detained and her children taken into police protection this afternoon.

A Southport woman with a group of young children was waiting at a bus stop when she was approached by Police officers on Manchester Road following a 999 call to raise concerns.

A number of officers swarmed the street just after 5pm after they were called to the gathering following some unknown concerns raised by residents in the area.
