Police declare major incident in Banks

A major incident has been declared as police have closed off part of the road around Banks Pumping station.

Locals have been told to avoid the area or stay in doors while police corden off a large area around the marsh in what is being treated as a serious incident.

Police have yet to confirm why they are at the site but eye witnesses report seeing officers searching scrubland.

Forensics teams from Lancashire Constabulary are also in attendance.

An update is expected shortly while motorists are advised to avoid the area completely.
