A driver had a lucky escape after writing off their car in a smash on the promenade this evening
The driver narrowly escaped injury but the same could not be said for his car which was completely written off in the smash after he tried to turn on Nevill Street
The car collided with another vehicle which is understood to have fled the scene.
Police have been called and have closed off the junction at the promenade while an investigation is carried out
