Police are hunting for armed men after a robbery at a Penwortham bar.

Five men entered the bar around 12.15am on Tuesday (29 August) in Liverpool Road.

Staff who were cashing up were threatened with weapons and money was demanded.

Preston Police say the men, thought to have Liverpool accents, made off with cash from the safe.

It is understood one of the staff members was attacked with a hammer and another of the attackers had a gun.

Police have sealed off the bar, which opened in July this year, throughout Tuesday morning while forensic teams search the bar.

Lime Bar is closed to the public until further notice.

DI Martin Pearson from Preston Police said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and so we are still the process of establishing exactly what has happened.

“I would urge anyone who may have seen any vehicles or people acting suspiciously in the area prior to this incident to speak to us as soon as possible.”
