Players needed for Jugen Klopp’s favourite junior football team

YOUNG football stars in Formby have a chance to play for Jugen Klopp’s favourite side – Redgate Rovers!

The side, based in the Craven Minor League, are this season turning into a 11-a-side squad and thus need to boost their numbers.

And manager Andrew Byrne is hoping that the club’s biggest fan, neighbour and Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp, will entice players to try out for the side.

Andrew told the Champion: “We have a very loyal squad of 14 but we need to add at least three players to strengthen the squad.

“We’ve had Jurgen Klopp visit during our training sessions and meet the team – he’s a a big fan of Redgate when he’s not managing the Reds!

“This season coming up is my fourth season in charge and in September we go from nine-a-side team to a full 11-a-side squad.

“We play in the Craven Minor League and next season it will most likely be Sunday’s with a 2pm kick off.

“Next season we are the under 13’s so any kids currently in Year Seven or were born between September 2004 and August 2005 but you don’t have to be from Formby.

“We’ll be holidng tirals soon so please get in touch!”
