Plastic Coated Park Propaganda
A hastily thrown-together plastic laminated sign on Southport’s Victoria Park gates states, quite reasonably, that the Park has to be closed occasionally for events in order to pay for the upkeep.
What it fails to mention at all, however, is why the Flower Show’s management company so-seriously breaches the agreement (made in 1986 with the Council), about the number of days the park will be closed to the people of Birkdale and Southport for their leisure and enjoyment, by shutting the park this year for MASSIVELY more than the ’80 days’ per year they signed up to.
Meanwhile NO ONE in the Council has yet owned up to being the person who is responsible for monitoring the performance of the Victoria Park agreement on Southport residents’ behalf.
