An ex nightclub in Southport town centre could be turned into 16 new residential apartments if new plans are given the green light.
Applicant Shimon Rudich from Prestwich, submitted a planning application to Sefton Council to change the use of the first and second floors of the Coronation Walk building above the Phoenix pub from a disused former nightclub into a new 22- room hotel.
The design and access statement submitted with the application states: “As with many like side streets, there’s a great variance in architectural style and character – with the front façade to the application site illustrating a strong art-deco style typical of the 1920s-30s.
It is evident that the rear elevation has undergone a series of alterations over many years which have clearly been founded on function rather than form.
