Pensioner smashes head in nasty fall

Worried bystanders rushed to the help of an elderly woman this evening after she fell and bashed her head on Upper Aughton Road.

The pensioner, who was walking her dog when she tripped on a loose pavement, fell and hit her head causing a major bleed.

Drivers and passers by stopped to help and administer first aid and an ambulance was called.

Paramedics assessed the woman at the scene and transferred her to Southport hospital for further checks.
